I’ve been thinking ahead to Tuesdays with Dorie’s 2nd Anniversary, which will be on January 1, 2010. Last year, Dorie herself was kind enough to pick a recipe and play host in honor of our 1st anniversary. This year, I’d like for us all to celebrate. So, with that in mind, for the week of January 5, 2010 we will all vote on a recipe to make. I would like it to be something for a special occasion. Ladies and gentlemen, take out your books and pick a recipe that you’d like to bake in honor of TWD’s 2nd Anniversary. Leave a comment on this post. We will narrow them down at the beginning of December and then vote again.
Lastly, I am not sure I say it enough, thank you for baking along with me every week. I never in my wildest dreams imagined that I would still be doing this 2 years, let alone, that hundreds of people would be doing it with me. I know I do not comment on your blogs as much as I should either, but, I enjoy each and every one. Thank you, thank you, thank you.
Much love,
Laurie
Normandy Apple Tart, pg- 304 and 305
Thanks Laurie, this will be fun to see what all the options are!
Wondering if this can be a recipe that we have already done? or not.
Id prefer it be something we have not done.
I’ll leave another note with a recipe suggestion, but let me just say I’m already worried about when we hit the end of the road! What will we do on Tuesdays?
Ive got some ideas in the works. Luckily, Dorie has several books we can choose from. And yes, a new one coming out next year.
Oooh fun! I’m with Mary Ann, I like the Normandy Apple Tart, or maybe the Tarte Tatin.
What fun and what a celebration. I’ve got two favs so will have to decide which one asap.
In response to megan. When we are finished with this one we need to go to Baking With Julia by Dorie or he new one. Doesn’t she have one coming out??
My initial thoughts: the anniversary recipe should be something that most of the bakers can bake and would enjoy — probably not chocolate, and not a strong focus on alcohol or coffee, since so many of our members do not use those ingredients.
Megan, I’ve got a couple of baking books I’d love to “bake through” once we’re done with Dorie’s. We do have some time still – luckily!
I would like to suggest the White Chocolate Brownies as they look so elegant and pretty for the anniversary. Pages 110-111.
I’m gonna go ahead and ditto Kayte. She obviously knows how to celebrate an anniversary. :P
WHITE CHOCOLATE BROWNIES! WHITE CHOCOLATE BROWNIES! WHITE CHOCOLATE BROWNIES! WHITE CHOCOLATE BROWNIES! WHITE CHOCOLATE BROWNIES! WHITE CHOCOLATE BROWNIES! WHITE CHOCOLATE BROWNIES! WHITE CHOCOLATE BROWNIES! WHITE CHOCOLATE BROWNIES! WHITE CHOCOLATE BROWNIES! WHITE CHOCOLATE BROWNIES! WHITE CHOCOLATE BROWNIES! WHITE CHOCOLATE BROWNIES! WHITE CHOCOLATE BROWNIES! WHITE CHOCOLATE BROWNIES! WHITE CHOCOLATE BROWNIES! WHITE CHOCOLATE BROWNIES! WHITE CHOCOLATE BROWNIES!
Did I mention? White Chocolate Brownies p. 110
Just checkin’
Megan – Dorie will have another book out soon. hehe We can start another.
baking and cooking adventure on Tuesdays
Gosh – duh – teach me to read ALL of the comments before I rattle my trap, huh? Anyway, I guess there is no way to please all the people all of the time. SOOOOooooooo, maybe, we could do something like you did this month Laurie, where there is more than one choice to choose from. Maybe there would be,…. oh, lets say just for fun three different ones we could choose from and interpret to our liking. How about that?
(That’s one way to get what you want right?) hehe
AmyRuth
… or we could each choose a rewind recipe that we’d find celebratory. If you’ve got nothing to “rewind” then pick one that hasn’t been chosen.
what about something special and out of the ordinary, like the Peppermint Puff Cream Ring? Would that be too much after the holidays?
I suggest the Cranberry Upside-Downer on page 206.
That way those that live below the equator can make it too.
I suggest Tarte Tatin (pg 312). It’s a classic French dessert, and she gives several options for the crust, plus a couple of different fruit options.
Ooo, good suggestion. Love apples.
I am going to throw my own wants into the mix.
Cocoa-Buttermilk Birthday Cake, pages 256 and 257.
or
Low and Lush Chocolate Cheesecake, page 243.
Yay for the Cocoa-buttermilk Birthday Cake!! Second that. Need something festive for this.
The cheesecake would make a really elegant anniversary post!!
Amen to that. I was reading the comments to see if anyone had suggested the Cocoa-Buttermilk Birthday Cake or not yet. I would love to do either of these two as well!
Tarte Tatin! Although I’ve made the Cranberry Upside-Downer (for Christmas last year) and oh my was it good. So those are my two votes!
it’s actually too bad we’ve done almost every celebration cake, but i do agree with tarte tatin!
How about the “Dressy Chocolate Loaf Cake!” I think it would be great fun to make and very pretty.
I second (third?) the cranberry upside down cake.
Tarte Tatin!
I’m not a member, but I wanted to say that the blogs of everyone are fab…and I enjoy reading them on the Tuesdays!
I’ve been wanting to make the tarte tatin for a while, so it would get my vote. My birthday happens to fall on the first Tuesday of the year, so the Cocoa Buttermilk Birthday Cake would also be great!
I vote Tarte Tatin or cocoa buttermilk cake.
Or Normandy apple tart.
Soo many choices………..
I vote for Tarte Tatin or Cocoa Buttermilk Birthday Cake, with the latter being my first choice :)!
White Chocolate brownies
Understand the appeal of Tarte Tatin, but my vote goes for White Chocolate Brownies. They sound very celebratory.
*high five*
I’m also going to vote for the white chocolate brownies. They look so scrumptiously tasty and festive!
*double fist pump*
Definitely the Cocoa Buttermilk Birthday Cake or the Tarte Tatin. Yum!!!!!!!
I’m voting Cocoa Buttermilk Birthday Cake. I just found a picture on the web that made me want to lick my computer screen…which can’t be healthy.
Cocoa buttermilk birthday cake. Can’t stand white chocolate.
Tarte tatin! I’ve always wanted to make one.
It has to be a classic, like Dorie! Tarte Tatin for sure!!!
I vote for the regular old chocolate chip cookies!
OMG! any recipe is fine as long as i can bake with all of you !!! LOL…but the tarte tatin sounds really, really good!!!
I vote for the cocoa buttermilk birthday cake! sounds delish.. and so festive!
I’m not even sure if I am allowed to vote (yet), but when I read the post my first thougth was: “tarte tatin” – no question!
It’s a reference to Dories home, it’s a classic, it can be modified in various ways.
Tarte Tatin!!
The Cocoa Buttermilk Birthday Cake, I’ve been dying to try it.
I love this idea!!! I like the white chocolate brownies as an option, but will look at my book for others.
Another vote for the Cocoa Buttermilk Birthday Cake!! (narrowly beating out the white chocolate brownies!)
Why? Jayma? Why?
Come on! White chocolate + brownies! COME ON!
I had a chance to look at the book last night and I change my vote :). I will go for the cocoa buttermilk birthday cake.
YOU CAN’T CHANGE YOUR VOTE!! haha
Another vote for cranberry upside down cake. Yum.
The chewy, chunky blondies page 109. “Nuff said.
Lemon poppy seed muffins please!
Thank you for keeping all of us involved Laurie. :)
I vote for the Normandy Apple Tart or the Tart Tatin. Yum, apples + tart!
