February 23, 2010– Michelle of Flourchild decided on Honey-Wheat Cookies, page 81.
Yay!! Look at all the cookies! I’ve been waiting for SO long for someone to pick the chocolate chip cookies! Thank you!
Still dissing the White Chocolate Brownies huh? Not cool. :P
Sweet! I already have made the chocolate chip cookies several times, and I can tell you they really are the BEST.
Plus, I already have pictures, so WIN.
this project alone triples my chocolate purchases for the month
YES!!! I get to make chocolate chip cookies! I am going to eat so. much. dough.
Also excited about chocolate cake and honey and brownies. Lots of favorite things for me this month.
I was going to comment, but Bridget? You beat me to the punch. Ditto on all of this.
Yum!! All awesome selections!!!
Yum, yum, yum!!! Love all the picks!!
This is a fantastic month – excellent choices all around.
I’m lovin these picks! One question: for the mini bundts, can we just use muffin tins? Although this is a great excuse for buying another pan…. *insert evil laugh*
weird coincidence – i was planning on making the cookies that same weekend. funny, huh?
I definitely wouldn’t worry about buying a new pan just for one recipe, not that mini-Bundts aren’t very cute. I’m sure a muffin tin would work, and I’m curious whether a full recipe makes the right amount of batter for a regular Bundt.
IDK for sure, but I would try it. Worse case scenario it only fills up half the pan, and your bundt cake isn’t as high as a normal one. Don’t take my word for it though if it messes up lol
Those mini Bundt pans are too cute! I’m going to try to resist buying some, though, since I already have a large Bundt pan and a six-cup one.
I have been so curious about the honey wheat cookies. Great month all around!
sooooo excited about all of these recipes!!! awesome choices, y’all:)
Hooray. I want to bake them all today! Bursting with enthusiasm which must be contained before I burst out of my pants.
Awesome choices! Great variety!
YAY! I’m super excited about these recipes!!!! Lotsa chocolate!
A bundt and cookie-lover month . . . and not to forget the brownies. Great choices for a valentine month!
I, also, would like to know if the bundt recipe fills a whole pan. I can’t justify another purchase!!
SO excited to try those honey-wheat cookies.
It looks to me like this recipe would not fill a regualr bundt pan (10-12 cups, usually) unless you double it. I’m guessing it makes around 6 cups of batter. A small tube/bundt pan or a loaf pan should be about right.
…saw the typo too late; I’d already hit “submit”: meant to type “regular” bundt pan.
That was my thought too. I think I will double it and use my regular bundt pan. I cannot buy another baking item right now.
Woo easy recipes for Feb! And by easy I mean basics like brownies and cookies. Something I can bake at a moment’s notice :)
Very excited about the choices this month!!!
Thinking I might make the bundt in my 6/jumbo muffin pan.
I’ve tried making those brownies before but had a horrible time baking them- wondered if the baking time was off or good old human error on my part?
Jayma: I just made these yesterday and wondered the same thing. I baked for 30-35 min. at 325. They seemed “done” according to the recipe, (top dry, gooey inside), but once cooled, the middle sunk, starting about 2 inches from the edge of the pan. I don’t have the book with me, and can’t remember if there’s a photo? I’m thinking another 5-10 would do it…
Hey Mike, that’s exactly the problem that I had. I left it in for an additional 10 minutes but it was still a gooey mess! Have to give it another try though, I love brownies too much to not get it right!
yeah. i made them and had the same thing happen. left them in for an additional 15 minutes and middle was soupy.
with that said, the outside pieces were really really good. I loved the idea of seperating the whites and yolks. :) it’s how i make pancakes. :) i am tempted to try this again to get it right.
as always, I volunteer to do the taste comparisons
Wow–lots of chocolate this month! i don’t like chocolate that much. Weird, I know. I am going to try to bake a couple of these this week, because I’ll be away until the 6th of March for work. Unfortunately I won’t have a kitchen to bake in in Montreal:(
On the bright side, the restaurants are fantastic there:) Can’t wait to see everyone’s posts.
I love mini bundts! I read on the Martha Stewart website that all recipes formulated for making six mini bundts will fill a 10-cup bundt pan if doubled. That’s what I’m going to do. :)
Wait no, a ten INCH bundt pan. Not ten cups!!!
Thanks for the info. I don’t want to buy mini-Bundt pans (like others)….I’ll try doubling the recipe and see what happens. thanks for the tip!
Great choices!
I’m going to see if my office wants to revive the “bake sale for charity” idea we did before Christmas. This time it will be for the International Red Cross. Hope that will keep me from bursting out of my pants!
Yeah! I am back to TWD baking this month and all of the chocolate recipes sound wonderful.
Love all these recipes! I’ve already made the brownies and my husband has made the chocolate chip cookies several times. (now it’s my turn!)
I’m really excited about the honey wheat cookies. I love wheat germ and excited to see how it plays out in these cookies.
Great picks, everyone!
wow, this month the recipes are quite straightforward… they’re kinda all one bowl recipes! a nice change :)
if anyone is thinking of skipping the honey-wheat cookies. DO NOT!
they are so good! I made them last night and am in love! just be sure to take them out right around 10 minutes…they are perfectly chewy at that point!
SUCH A GREAT MONTH of RECIPES!
Oh good Im so glad to hear about the Honey-wheat cookies since it’s my pick! I think they sound delicious. Of course I like healthy things and IM sick of chocolate. I figured after a Valentines day it will be nice to have anything BUT chocolate!!
I did half the brownie recipe baked them in a smaller pan and they came out of the oven looking good. Im getting ready to take them out of the pan ..wish me well.
This will be my first TWD post and I was wondering if I bake the brownies according to the recipe in the book, can I add icing to the finished brownies and still be ok. Im just not sure what the rules are about changes to the recipe.
Thanks
Charla
