I love oatmeal on cold snowy mornings. Oatmeal breakfast bread sounds lovely for a scorching, humid summer morning. ;)

Definitely making this one.
This was wonderful with dried cherries – a nice pop of tartness throughout the bread. It was perfect for breakfast, and super easy to make.
it is really good!!
i agree really yummy. i might have to make it twice!
I made this, thinking it might be boring and it was the best! It was so good I could hardly believe it! I used dried apricots.
I can’t find applesauce here – any idea what I could sub?
Sophia, applesauce is very easy to make at home. Peel, core, and chop apples, put them in a pot with just enough water to cover them (you don’t want too much water because it will make the applesauce runny) and bring to a boil then let simmer until the apples are soft enough to mash with a spoon. If you like the sauce to have texture, simply mash the apples with a spoon. If you want a smooth sauce you can puree it in the food processor. You can do this with pears too! Hope this helps!
thanks so much!
I thought about using dried tart cherries, but I ended up using chopped dates. Easy and delicious.
I made this and baked as muffins. Really, really good!
Me too! They were spectacular.
I love this recipe – probably my favourite so far!! I made mine into muffins (’cause I can’t find my loaf tin), and they are sooooooo good, I am not sharing this week :)
This was a really good recipe! I was thinking of skipping it, but I’m so glad I didn’t. Another winner.
omg this was great! i thought it was going to be boring but oh my, how delish. i used rum soaked raisins and spiced apple butter in place of the applesauce. i have an addiction to spices obviously. they remind me of winter and christmas. oh happy day.
A big fail for me! It tested done, but when I turned it out it fell apart, revealing a gaping hole, full of uncooked batter. Dang. The edges tasted good, though. I used figs, cardamom and almonds.
:)
This is one of my new favorites from Ms. Dorie – I will DEFINITELY be making this one several times over! :)
This is delicious! SO good. I made my own apple sauce since you can’t easily buy unsweetened apple sauce in the UK. I think I will have to make this recipe twice!
I thought this was pretty good, but did anyone else get a kind of dense texture? It was almost spongey… but the taste was good.
So many positive comments. I can’t wait to try it. Gonna make it now.
Made this yesterday-really really good-I wish I would have added chocolate chips……
Dummy me! I forgot the oatmeal! But guess what, it still tasted great anyway.
I just made muffins…I got 16 and baked them for 15 minutes. Incredible. Should have made a double batch for the freezer!
I made two versions and used an 8×8 square baking pan, it was like a coffee cake and had RAVE reviews from those who tasted it.
I made one with applesauce as written with walnuts to replace the dried fruit.
The other I replaced the applesauce with banana and added chocolate chips. STINKIN’ good.
I wanted to make mine gluten free so hubby could eat it and I had not gluten-free oatmeal. I subbed chopped almonds and additional flour and it was terrific.
