French Fridays with Dorie

Introducing- French Fridays with DorieYes, I know that its slightly cheesy, but you guys know me by now. Embrace it. :)

Congrats to Dorie! I know how long and hard she worked on this book. I am so incredibly happy for her! Amazon surprised us all by releasing Around My French Table a tad earlier than expected. By a tad, I mean a month. So, the worker bees thought they had more time to work on the blog for French Fridays with Dorie. When you click the link, you will be taken to a placeholder for the FFwD blog. You can register for the new blog while you are there, and we will send you an official welcome when the blog launches. We have been working really hard to get the fine details in order and hope to publish the entire blog very soon.

French Fridays with Dorie will work a little differently than Tuesdays with Dorie has. LYL and P&Q will remain weekly staples, obviously. However, there will be no long term commitment. We welcome everyone to cook along as much or as little as they can with the group. Recipes will be decided on by member voting and author/staff selection and will be posted on Fridays. We want this group to be fun, enthusiastic, and most importantly, hungry. I hope all you bakers will hop on this ride!

Special thanks to Dorie and Joel, for whom this project would have never been possible. MUAH!

  1. WOW! I am so excited. I can not wait to start cooking out of this beautiful cookbook. Dorie taught me how to bake. Now she’ll teach me how to cook. This is going to be so fun.

I’m excited to hear about the flexible rules. This will be so nice for my schedule. Though I’m sure I’ll still join along with each recipe!

Thanks so much Laurie, Joel and Dorie! (and everyone else who has helped!)

  2. I’m in…really miss Whisk Wednesdays and all the French cooking we did in that group, so am so looking forward to this one! Thanks, Laurie. Can’t wait to get started.

  3. My book came 2 days ago and I can’t stop drooling over it. Congratulations Dorie! Love the logo and the new rules, Laurie. You’ve done a great job.

I can’t wait to get started! Do we really have to wait until October? JK. Trust me, when you get your book, you’re going to feel like I do!

  5. I ordered my book from Amazon yesterday, so I think it will arrive on Tuesday. I don’t often cook except for “single girl” dishes but I am hoping this will spur me on to make some really great meals.

  6. i freakin’ love that logo, laurie!! i’m excited to hear that the rules are a bit looser. i was thinking of not joining for fear of not being able to keep the commitment b/c of too many meat-based recipes…but now i’m in!!

  9. I was a little worried about the commitment too- what a great idea to let everyone cook along whenever they can!! My husband is probably more excited than I am because I rarely cook meat since I don’t eat it! I can’t wait to learn about French cooking and broaden my cooking skills! Thank you Laurie and Dorie!

  10. Oh I can’t wait for this one! I just ordered my book and it will be here on Sept. 11! My family is happy they’ll actually get some meat dishes. I think they love the sweets, but this will be a nice change!

  11. I just tried to register for French Fridays and the password I got sent didn’t work. I tried to reset the password and it just kept taking me to the log in page without giving me a new password. What do I do?

  12. Incredible talent shown in the logo and new site (can’t wait)! Thanks to LW for putting this all together! Getting (running quickly) the book this weekend. Love the relaxed schedule AND the FFWD concept!

  13. This may be what it takes to make me put that never used blog to work…I’ve already started cooking out of the book and would love to join all of you in the fun!

  14. After returning last night from a wonderful week of vacation I found an unexpected package from Amazon. Since it had been my birthday while we were away, I thought it might be a birthday present. And in a way it was! I had pre-ordered Dorie’s book and there it was, a whole month early! What to make first?! I went to the farm market this morning and bought raspberries and blackberries so this afternoon I made the Citrus Berry Terrine on page 399. It’s beautiful! I’m registered for the new group and can’t wait to begin!

thank you laurie for all that you do :) i love that the this group is flexible which will allow me to cook along, otherwise i probably wouldn’t be able to do it at all. now my blog can have a few more “good eats” and not be so focused on “sweet treats” ;)

thank you to Dorie, too, of course. your support of all of us is amazing! :)

  17. I was uber excited to get my book last week on my doorstep! And it all looks delicious of course. I can’t wait to make the first recipe. Looking forward to being in the group! Thanks Laurie for all you do!

  20. I just received my book today finally and it’s even more gorgeous than I could have imagined! I can’t wait to start cooking :)

Big thanks to Laurie and Dorie!

  21. I was so excited that the book came out early. I just returned from my annual trip to the States with it in my hand. I was fearful that I would not be able to get it until later when someone came down to visit. It looks great! I am ready to start French Cooking with FFwD. I just registered. Thanks Laurie for your hard work. lola
