I have made all the recipes so far with this book so I am going to go back to Baking From My Home… and make something I missed from that book. Maybe granola grabbers or the peanut butter chocolate cookies.
Both faves at my house!
I will try to make the first two recipes that I missed because I didn´t have a blog yet!
I’m going to make the Hungarian Shortbread or try the White Loaves again… with a fresh package of yeast this time! :)
My plan is to make the rugalach! It is a family favorite of ours so I am interested to see how a different recipe compares! I even get to see my family soon, so I’ll bring them go get a full family review!
I took the rugalach to work when I made it. Someone just told me that they liked it so much that they have dreamed about it.
I made all the recipes so far! Some more successful than others. I will go back to try the pizza rustica again to take to a family event.
I just Baking from My Home to Yours so I’m going to make something from that – any suggestions on something that was seriously good?
Soo many recipes from that book are great… i particularly love the chunky chewy blondies, the classic chocolate chip cookies, the rum-drenched vanilla cake, the holiday bundt cake… lol and the perfect party cake! everything is delicious!
I am making last week’s sticky buns, which I didn’t have time to make. What’s the final verdict on whether to reduce the butter?
If you absolutely have to, you could cut back a little bit of the butter when laminating the dough. The recipe says to use 3 oz (6 Tbs) of butter for half a recipe of brioche dough. You could reduce that to 2 oz (4 Tbs) and probably not notice the loss.
And you could likewise cut the butter when lining the pan from 1 stick (8 Tbs) to 5 or 6 Tbs. Some of us also found the caramel separated, so you might want to try creaming the butter and sugar prior to lining the pan.
I wouldn’t reduce the butter in the main brioche dough recipe, as you may decide to use half the dough for another recipe in the book, which won’t require addition of loads more butter like the sticky buns.
Thanks!
I am thinking I will make the sticky buns also. Now that all the reviews and questions are answered I think I could try it with more confidence. Sticky buns for memorial weekend so we can jog the rest of the weekend :-)
The Pizza Rustica lured me to the group to begin with, so I’ll give that a shot.
I didn’t manage to fit the pecan sticky buns into my schedule last week, so I’m making those. After reading everything, I think I’m going to make the recipe as is. I might only make half a batch though so I don’t eat them all.
Just to clarify: are we posting this Tuesday the 22nd or next Tuesday the 29th?
Neither. Next post is Tuesday June 5!
Hi Renee,
If I have understood this correctly, since there’s one “extra” Tuesday in May, TWD gives the possibility to catch up a “missed receipe” to be posted TODAY or next TUESDAY – and this is what we desperately are trying to find out :-)(please read the title of this post. Thank you)
Hi Sophia, I was going to ask the same question right now.
Hope somebody will answer soon
Enjoy baking!
I have some leftover cream cheese dough from the rugelach, so I am thinking something yummy with that!
PLEASE PLEASE DON’T TELL ME THAT THE POSTING IS ALREDY TOMORROW!
I’VE BAKED TODAY THE WHITE LOAF AND I’D SUGGEST TO ANYBODY WHO HASN’T BAKE IT YET, TO TRY IT: EASY AND DELICIOUS!
…NO TIME TO WRITE ON THE BLOG…
I am making the Pizza Rustica…finally!!!
Merry Baking!
I’m doing something a little different today – making Lemon Tea Loaf. A fragrant yeast bread.
It sounds interesting and delicious!
Okay, so is everyone posting today or next week??
I hope next week, as it would be “one week yes, one week no, one week yes…”
It was my understanding that the 3rd Tuesday recipe would be posted on that day (which would be 5/29) ??
Thinking I may opt for the Hungarian Shortbread.
made the pecan sticky buns! came out great and it’s our favorite recipe from the book so far : )
i made the lemon loaf cake, but never blogged it. gonna try that, i think. depends on how busy i am over the weekend. got to take my mom’s stuff i want out of her house. my brother is having a hard time living there with the reminders of her. i miss her so much… and she loved the lemon cake, so yeah, i will find the time to make it again!
Ahhh, bless your heart- to lose your Mom is so hard. Glad that you have the wonderful food memories.

Everything in that book is good. I have made the Coconut Tea Cake 3 times and every person who eats it raves about how delicious it is. I last made it with fresh pineapple. Take a look http://thedoubletroublekitchen.com/2012/04/01/coconut-tea-cake-with-pineapple/
