I know. It’s freaking me out a little. What would you like to bake in October? Three Tuesdays in October mean two scheduled recipes and one make-up (for slackers like me).
What would you like to see scheduled? Please respond with one or two recipe choices and a page number.
Thanks!
1) Bagels (p 87)
2) and Salmon Spread (p 459) to go with the bagels :-)
I think it’d be great to count something like bagels and their schmear as one recipe. As an example, the Oasis Naan we’ve made listed some optional accompaniments.
I’d love to make Madeleines p.333-334. I got a pan for Christmas and haven’t had the chance to use it yet! Canberry-Walnut Pumpkin Loaves on page 108-109 would also be a wonderful seasonal choice!

How about something chocolate-y and boozy and creamy ? Boca Negra pp 253-4.
Another bread-ish thing would be good too… Country Bread pp136-7, or the already mentioned Bagels pp 87-89 (with one or more spreads as optional)
I’m with Paul:)
Cranberry-Walnut Pumpkin Loaves (108-9) seasonal and a nod to Canadian Thanksgiving
Alsatian Onion Tart (426-7), which have the added benefit of giving us experience with another of the foundational recipes, Puff Pastry (46-49)
“which HAS the added benefit…” Apologies for the tense error.
Teresa- those 2 sound delicious!
I second these! (Or third, whatever)
I think Cranberry-Walnut Pumpkin Loaves (pg 108) sound great and I also have a madeleine pan that’s seen little use so Madeleines (pg 333) sound good too!
French Apple Tart Pg 379
Bagels Pg 87
Bagels pp 87-89 would be great, and
Cranberry-Walnut Pumpkin Loaves (pg 108) would be perfect seasonally. :)
Boca Negra p.253
Bagels p.87
The boca negra is sooo good and so rich! It is easy EASY too.

ooh. I’d love to make bagels and a shmear!
but I don’t think its cool enough in florida to consider a puff pastry recipe yet.
I’m with Amy. It is way to warm still in Houston for puff pastry…. It is tricky since we are all over the world in different climates! However, I will give whatever recipes are chosen a good try!
I’m all for Cranberry-Walnut Pumpkin Loaves (I love anything with pumpkin). And bagels are always a hit around here.

Ooh, the cranberry -walnut pumpkin loaf (page 108) sounds good.
About to watch a Baking With Julia (They are on PBS here every Saturday–love it!) and Marcel Desaulniers is about to make Chocolate Mint Nightcaps (pages 309-310) (cookies!) that look delish.

Boca Negra p.253
Danish Bread (pg 205)
Persian Naan (pg 147)
I would save the Boca Negra for the holiday season. I may pull it back out for The holidays using a bit of peppermint in the white chocolate topping.
Havings said that, the cranberry walnut pumpkin loaves sound good as does anything with apples since they should be coming into season!
Cranberry walnut pumpkin loaves and bagels.
Ditto..pumpkin loaves and Bagels is my vote!
I would love to try another pastry like croissants (pg185).
I like the idea of cranberry walnut pumpkin loaves too.
