I personally adored these but you definitely need to be a coffee lover. I loved how buttery the cookie base was and the different [chunks] of chocolates. Yum!
I loved them: the dough is so versatile that you can add whatever you like to it and you won’t be disappointed.
I am not a coffee drinker but oh how I love these cookies! I only used 1 tablespoon of finely ground instant coffee and it distributed a very yummy subtle flavor throughout each cookie. I’ll make these again!
I like the mocha aspect of these cookies, but not sure about the dried fruit. I swapped out apricots for cherries, and while it was tasty, it seemed like there was too much going on in this cookie.
I haven’t baked yet (haven’t gotten to the store, but will this afternoon) but I have a question. What do the apricots add to the cookies? They sounds like a strange addition, in my opinion. Are they really necessary, or are they weird???
I won’t be eating these. In fact, I’m being bold enough to give them all away as gifts for my kids’ school science fair judges in their thank you bags. Am I crazy or what?!?! So, should I add the apricots or not!?
I say ditch the apricots! Enjoy a truly mocha chocolate chip cookie!
Yes, leave out the apricots. The texture is weird.
I liked the apricots. It was a nice contrast to the sweetness of all the chocolate. I also added cherries to half of the dough – the apricots won out! Make half with and half without! :)
Thanks for the input!! I left the apricots out. :)
I thought these were really good and even my picky fiance said he really liked them, despite the coffee flavor which he generally hates.
Am I the only one who disliked these so much I threw them out? I am not a fan of coffee, but even my husband, who is a fan, said to toss them. Ick all around. I had such a negative reaction I couldn’t even blog about it.
Oh Tammy, so sorry for you!
We’ve made them 3 times now. Love them. Especially the apricots. I make scoops of dough, and pop bags of 6 in the fridge. That’s 6 or 7 bags of cookies. That way, we have “fresh cookies” all week. Man. I’m here to tell you, they get better with rest in the fridge. If there is such a thing. Love these cookies!
(Though I didn’t blog because lambing has me in a state of perpetual motion that has little to do with navel gazing…or blogging ;) for that matter.)
