LYL: White Loaves

It’s that time! Welcome to the first recipe of Tuesdays with Dorie: Baking with Julia! I hope you all overcame your fear of yeast and came out with beautiful golden loaves of bread. I am so anxious to see how they all turned out.  (The beauties shown below are Laurie’s loaves.)

This week Jules and I have the honor of sharing hosting duties. You can link to either of our blogs. The recipe, which Jules typed up, is on her blog.  Our posts will go live sometime early in the morning (like 1:00 am CST) on Tuesday.

My blog is slush and Jules is Someone’s in the Kitchen.

Hey yall,

There are a bunch of ladies on twitter who like to have live bake-alongs. I thought we should go ahead and give everyone an opportunity to broadcast their twitter name. No pressure if you like your tweets private and what not.

TWD is @TuesdaysWDorie, and I am @superslush. I will let Jules add hers in comments if she wants to share. ;)

Baking with Julia: February Recipe Schedule

The first month of Baking with Julia is here! We have been looking forward to the start of the new book since fall, and here we go. I hope you like the recipes we have picked for the first month.

February 7, 2012- White Loaves, on pages 81-82. (Hosted by Laurie and Jules)

February 21, 2012- Chocolate Truffle Tartlets, on pages 382-383. (Hosted by Steph, Spike, Jaime and Jessica)

From here on out, recipes will be picked by nominations and lottery for hosts. Everyone will have a chance to host that way. We will try to choose one simple and more difficult recipe per month. Look out for a recipe nomination post at the beginning on February.

Theme Changes

I am going to be messing around with new themes in the next week. Do not be alarmed. I am fickle and will need to test drive a few before I choose.

An Unexpected Surprise…

I had our mail held while we were away for the holidays. We arrived home last night, and our mail was delivered this morning. I had several packages I was expecting, however, I was not expecting a gift from all of you. Now, if you guys have learned anything about me in the past 4 years, I am not an overly emotional person. Cynical, yes, sarcastic, definitely, an emotional sap, no way. The book you sent me had me sobbing within a few pages. I so enjoyed putting faces with names. I truly love it.  Thank you so very much. It means more to me than I can tell you. And I am hoping that you will continue the baking journey with us.

Jules and I, along with a few others, have been discussing the details for Baking with Julia for a few months now. We will be making some visual changes to the site over the next month. We should have all the details up by mid-January, so that everyone is ready to go for our first TWD: Baking with Julia recipe on February 7, 2012.

Tuesdays with Dorie: Baking with Julia

We are gearing up for the next round of Tuesdays with Dorie. If you have not picked up Baking with Julia yet, get on the horn! Kick off will begin in February 2012. I am so super excited about the new book. I hope you will all jump on board.

BlogHer Food ’12 in Seattle

I bought a ticket to my very first blogging event. I will be attending BlogHer Food ’12 in Seattle. I am so super excited and scared. Are any of you TWD’ers going to be there?

TWD: The Next Generation

As you can see, I am still trying out titles for our next adventure. Suggestions welcome. :)

I just wanted to take a second and follow-up on the post from last week. I did read all of your comments. This is what I heard, you want the same format, and a less stressful recipe schedule due to the complication of recipes.

I am going to admit, I was hoping to switch TWD over to the FFWD format, because it is so much easier to manage/maintain. However, I have heard you and we will continue TWD in the way it has always been run. With that said, I am going to ask for help. I would like to bring some more people on staff for the new club. My hope is that some of you old schoolers won’t mind pitching in. If we are going to manage a member list to pick hosts from, it’s a full time job, especially in the first couple months.

I’d also like to obtain a new logo when we start anew. If anyone would like to try their hand at making one, go for it!

If you would like to help out with TWD 2.0, let me know. Jules and I would appreciate any and all help we can get.

Any other suggestions, comments welcome.

Looking Forward

As we wind down on Baking, I am starting to look forward to the new book. We will be tackling Baking with Julia next. I hope you are all as excited as I am to begin a new book!

In starting a new book, I wanted to get feedback from you all about what you’d like the new club to look like. Would you like a new format? Would you like it to be similar to how FFWD is running? Would any of you like to be more involved?

Please give me your 2 cents. I value all of your opinions. Leave your feedback in comments, or email me. :)
