The first time I posted the carrot cakes, there was a lot of writing. If y’all know where it went, please bring it back kicking and screaming so I can punish it for running away. Really, if y’all have any information on what happened to the first few paragraphs I wrote and was sure had posted please let me know! *grumble*
Jayne starts this week with a very elegant carrot cake, on the nicest plates! The whole affair makes me want to get all of y’all together for a tea party, the toasted almonds on top the perfect accompaniment for the gracefull frosting. Ain’t these pretty?
This makes me think about a small desert where the wind has been making tracks through the sand. She has a lot of pics of making the cakes, if you haven’t been over there to read about them you really need to.
The best part about making these to me has always been how cheerfull the carrots look. This is where I sneak bites out of the bowl.
Did y’all know that desserts attended cotillions? This cake has obviouslly just stepped out on the veranda for a bit of fresh air at her very first one. She’s everything a debutante wants to be, from the dogwood petals in her smooth hair to the modest pearls at her throat.
Is that a glimpse of her ankle? You can see her tart cranberries!
In a perfect world, there’s a lake of cream cheese frosting. Two carrots glide hand in hand, deeply in love with flushed cheeks and giggles. The star tips protect them from the edge, where the crumbs scatter below carelessly. Y’all shouldn’t let me babble like this!
