I got a little ahead of myself and posted this here instead of on it’s own page, but hey, everyone should know how to do it right?
So, you joined Tuesdays with Dorie and now you want to put our cute little banner/avatar up on your blog but you have no idea how to do it. Well, you came to the right place because we have directions for wordpress and blogger. I don’t know how to do it with any other blog hosts so you’re on your own :)
We’ll start with the instructions then get to the images and the code that goes with them (code for each image is under the image).
WordPress Instructions
Choose the code under the image you want to put in your blog.
Go to your dashboard and click on design
Select Widgets
Add a Text Widget
Paste the code in the text Widget and move your text widget to the order you want it to appear on your sidebar
Save and you’re done
Blogger Instructions
Blogger can be a little trickier because sometimes it likes to add extra quotes. If it adds extra quotes, just monkey around with the quotes around the end of the url until you can convince blogger that you’re doing the right thing.
Go to the layout section
Click add a page element on the top of the right column
Then find the element called “HTML/Javascript” and add it to your blog
Put the code in, save and you’re done

Oooh I had no idea there were such detailed instructions.
I went the lazy girl route…aka right click to save the image off the TWD homepage. Then in Blogger ‘Add Picture’ under Layout, choose the picture from my computer, link to the TWD homepage and Save.
After typing that all out it doesn’t LOOK like the lazy girl route but it felt like it at the time. :D
I couldn’t get it to work! It says the photo has been moved or deleted
:(
I can’t see the whole line of code on this page so I can’t copy it right. I’ll check back later. :)
Mara, I like your way too- it didn’t confuse blogger.
Mara – Since I never use blogger I was no aware that there was a super easy way to do it … I’ll add it as an option
autumnrose and LyB – looks like it’s cutting off the end of the code so I’m working to get it all to show up
Ok I made the links into tinyurls so the code should be all set because it’s not cutting off any of the code now
I like the avatars you posted Nikki rather than the one I pulled from the homepage…looks like it slightly changed, so I am updating mine too!
I’m a total techno-dork, but I got it to work!
Got it!! thanks!!!
I got it now! And thanks for the tip about the extra quotes, I would have never figured it out on my own. :)
I just added — super easy. Thanks!
Thanks for changing the code. I am now the proud owner of a TWD avatar.
Hello. I’m trying to add this to my blog, and I am not sure to enter the code under “title” or “content.” I’m using blogger, and I found/added the HTML/java script tab,but then a window opens and I have to fill in two fields: title, and content. I’ve added the code to both and still am unsuccessful. Does anyone have any suggestions? Thanks so much.
Shirlie – you’d want to add it to the content section (you can put Tuesdays with Dorie in the title if you want it to say Tuesdays with Dorie above the avatar). Have you checked to make sure it’s not putting in double quotation marks? If you’re still having problems I would try Mara’s way. Download the avatar you want, then upload it as a picture element that links back here.
