Here is the schedule for June. I think its another great month of recipes. Yeah, yeah, I know I say that every month…
June 2*- Tracey of Tracey’s Culinary Adventures chose Cinnamon Squares on pages 210 and 211.
June 9- Jessica of My Baking Heart picked Parisian Apple Tartlet on page 319.
June 16- Tommi of Brown Interior selected Honey-Peach Ice Cream on page 437.
June 23- Andrea of Andrea In The Kitchen decided on Coconut-Roasted Pineapple Dacquoise on pages 293-295.
June 30- Carol of mix, mix… stir, stir settled on Perfect Party Cake on page 250-252.
*We have pushed back the logo contest winner week to July since we are still deciding on a winner.
Great picks!!
Question: Are you all open again for new members?
We want to re-join!
Hannah
Yeah! I have been waiting on the party cake.
Yay!!!! These are all AWESOME picks! I gotta say, I’ve been dying for the cinnamon squares! Yum!
oops, there goes my first pick. I am absolutely delighted to get to have the pineapple daquoise thing about 22 weeks earlier.
Fantastic picks! I have been eyeing up the Parisian Apple Tart. Can’t wait :)
I’ve been dying to make that tart, too. All the choices look great (especially for my non-chocolate eating husband!)
And am I the only one who checks the page a million times a day at the end of the month waiting for the new recipes? I was thinking about it while washing my hair this morning… so glad they’re up! :)
Me too. It’s so exciting!
anne–you are not alone!
Yep!! Me too. Yay Dorie Bakers.
i am sooo excited for the Coconut-Roasted Pineapple Dacquoise! i’ve been drooling over that picture ever since i got the book :)
This is going to be a good month!
Wow – am I seeing that right? NO chocolate??!!
Great pix everyone! I don’t know if I’m going to be able to resist making every single one.
These all look great! Yay for summery recipes!
This is perfect – since my birthday is June 16, it looks like we’ll be having Perfect Party Cake and Honey Peach Ice Cream! WooHoo!! Can’t wait to try everything else – great month!
Oh, and my Anniversary is the 16th and birthday on 19th. I’m THERE!!!
June is a big birthday month in our family so it helped me in my choice, but I knew I would pick one of the cakes; they are my favorite thing to bake.
Honey Peach Ice Cream? Yeesssss. And Cinnamon Squares? *drool* What a perfectly summery and wonderful month we have going here.
Ice cream! YUM.
Yeah! I’m ready to start baking for June and I’ve been drooling over those cinnamon bars!
WOOHOO! Great picks, as usual. I love that this group is expanding my baking knowledge (oh, and waistline…)
What a great lineup! Going to enjoy all the different types of “baking” (ice cream!) and I love having the list in time to plan. My kitchen floors are being refinished in June and I won’t have access to it for 2 weeks!
is that a bad thing or a good thing, Nancy.
haha, not sure. Nice to have a kitchen break, but tricky since I’ve never missed a TWD.
Yay! These are great recipes! I love the Perfect Party Cake, with the fresh berry variation, so much that I can’t wait to make it again with local berried, which we should have by the end of June.
Oh wow, what a great bunch of recipe, I am so excited — I had two of those on my ‘would pick’ list! They all sound amazing :)
Ooo. All yummy recipes.
I’ve been ogling ice cream makers for a while and now I have an excuse to get one. Any brand recommendations?
I use the Cuisinart and I love it! :)
i have an IC attachment for my KA, and i like it a lot.
I wanted the KA since I already have a mixer, but I got the Cuisinart since I found a smoking deal on Craigs List (20 bucks and it was brand new). It works great so I think you’re safe with either brand. :)
I had the KA bowl, but it leaked blue coolant after a move, so I ditched it and got a Cuisinart. Love it! Works great, and doesn’t take up too much room in my tiny kitchen.
Had my Cuisinart for years and it works great.
YAY for Perfect Party Cake. I’ve had it tagged to make for months now and now I have a reason to definitely try it!
Off to put my ice cream maker bucket into the freezer! Great picks, all. The cinnamon squares are awesome.
I just made the tartlets with apple, pear, plum, apricot, peach and mango. What a fab dessert!
Gotta see how many I can get in tomorrow before our move this weekend.
Great choiceS!
love these choices – this is going to be a great baking month!
This is a really exciting line up. some new stuff to do….
BTW on the logo contest, does that mean you are still accepting submissions or just taking more time to decide?
I replied to a Twitter a couple of weeks ago (and also sent a follow up a couple of other times) to join the group, but haven’t heard back.
All of these recipes sound great – I’d love to be able to participate in the June recipes. Anybody know if / when the powers that be will get around to adding new members? It says it’s open on the front page and there was that twitter a couple of weeks ago, but no reply….
You are good to go. I am just behind on adding members. I have about 100 people to tackle.
Thank you!
I really like the variety this month, and the “light” feeling of the recipes. I’m not foolish enough to think they are light on calories, but they all have a nice summery feel to them. Great picks all!
If I recall correctly from the Daring Bakers challenge, the cake flour that Dorie recommends for the Perfect Party Cake is Swan’s Down.
Aw I was going to pick Honey Peach ice cream when it was my turn (still got a few months yet!) haha Oh well now I can make it sooner than planned ;)
Hm… am I the only person without an ice cream maker? :)
Maybe I can make a mousse or custard or something out of it.
Love the party cake and have wanted to try dacquoise! Cinnamon Squares – perfectly simple. What a great selection this month.
Mike, last time ice cream was picked, there were links in the P&Q for making ice cream without a freezer. You could look for that in the archives. I tried the method and it works pretty well.
Nancy – thank you! I will check that out. I guess that means that I can’t sub a scoop or two of Baskin Robbins and hope no one notices… :)
I will probably be doing this one ice cream maker-less as well. In the P&Q for the blueberry sour cream ice cream, someone suggested David Lebovitz’s method which I found here:
http://www.davidlebovitz.com/archives/2007/07/making_ice_crea_1.html
Looks like a lot of fun!!
At the end of the article that Charli linked to, there are other links to good information about making ice cream with a machine. Thanks Charli!
Sorry, forgot to click “Notify me….” :)
I’ve been longing for the Pineapple Dacquoise for the longest time – now it is here – hooray! All of June’s picks are great. Thank you TWD’ers.
What a wonderful selection of recipes! I’m especially excited about the ice cream!
If anyone is looking for a super inexpensive ice cream maker, Rival makes one that uses ice and salt. I have it, and I love it. I think I bought it a couple years ago at Home Depot for about $15. It’s a tiny bit of a pain to have to use the ice and salt, but the ice cream turns out beautifully.
Michele
Great selection of recipes!!! Don’t forget Tradet Joe’s has all butter puff pastry; Pepperidge farms is shortening.
Nancy-Thanks for your response to Mike’s question…I haven’t had an ice cream maker in a while and was wondering what on earth to do!
Sounds like a great bunch of recipes! Now if only the dust-cloud that is my mid-renovation house would settle down.
Ciao ! I was wandering if we could have the July selection as well so that I can start baking before the holydays !!!Thanks !
I do not even know what the July selections are yet. We only post one month at a time. July will be posted towards the end of June. Thanks.
