Good things come to those who wait. I know you guys are used to me posting recipes weeks in advance. Sometimes, I forget. Its the holidays, my head is everywhere but here. I apologize. There was once a time, when we announced the recipes on a weekly basis, and there was no advance notice. So… even when I am slow posting, its still way more notice than was given when TWD started. Have some patience. Take a deep breath. Have a cookie. Everything will be okay.
Now, on to the good stuff. TWD voted and well, Tarte Tatin won by a good bit. However, its my party and Ill bake a cake if I want to. Really, its our 2nd Anniversary, so having 2 choices made sense. Apples and chocolate?!? Come on! So, you can choose one or the other. You could also go all out and bake them both! (Shout out to my girl CB. If no one chooses your brownies by our 3rd Anniversary, Ill choose them for you babe. Promise. Cross my heart. MUAH!)
January 5, 2010– TWD’s 2nd Anniversary! Tarte Tatin, pages 312 and 313 and/or Cocoa-Buttermilk Birthday Cake, pages 256 and 257.
January 12, 2010– Teanna of Spork or Foon? selected Mrs. Vogel’s Scherben, pages 157-159.
January 19, 2010– Lillian of Confectiona’s Realm picked Chocolate Oatmeal Almost-Candy Bars, pages 114 and 115.
January 26, 2010– Steph of Obsessed with Baking chose Cocoa-Nana Bread, page 46.
Great call on the anniversary recipes!! I’m all about cake, but may bake both.
Ha! I’ll definitely be making both of these – because I can’t remember which one I voted for.
You are awesome with a capital A, Laurie – thanks again for all you do.
And I do remember when the recipes were posted on Monday for the following Tuesday!
Now we can have our cake and eat it too – nicely done! All the other recipes are perfect too – a nice blend for the month!
Sorry, Laurie, I didn’t mean to sound ungrateful or demanding, or anything like that!! I’m totally spoiled by the advance notice, and this month I guess I just had the 13th stuck in my mind! Knowing the lineup really will help with the rest of my holiday baking.
I truly appreciate everything you do – and have done – for TWD. You’re the best! And I love that you gave us a choice for the anniversary recipe.
Yay! I’m going to try to make both too! What a fun idea- two recipes for the 2nd anniversary- we should do three for the third etc.! I was so torn between the cake and the tart I didn’t even know which to vote for anyway! Thanks Laurie!!
What a great solution to the anniversary recipe! The other selections sound great too, as always.
Oooooh apples AND chocolate! Awesome.
Someone is going to have to shoehorn me into my pants after this holiday season :-)
you go girls… love to see em all
Fantastic solution for the Anniversary post! YAY!
Very nice lineup for January—another good baking month!
LW–you rock.
Excellent idea!!! Can you believe it’s been 2 years?! Congrats to you, Laurie, on a fantastic idea!!
yippie! I like the variety!
I thought it would be a good idea to throw this out ahead of time…I am very low on spending cash (thanks to the holidays) and I don’t have an ovenproof skillet required for the tatin. Any creative suggestions? I don’t even want to toy with the idea of wrapping foil around a plastic handle.
Thanks!! I really don’t want to skip this. :)
FINE *stomp* FINE *stomp* FINE *pouting*
I just can’t believe the white chocolate brownie hate out there. I think I’ll be organizing a revolt. You haven’t heard the last of me.
I’ll be backkkkkkkk…
