A good month for the chocoholics!
Carrèment Chocolat, The Simple Loaf, p 52
Lavender-White Chocolate Pots de Crème, p 360
Remember that we bake on the second and fourth Tuesdays of the month.
This post will also act as our P&Q post. Let us know if you have any questions!
Has anyone made the Carrément Choc Loaf yet? I think the size of loaf tin is wrong – it was FULL when I put the batter in it and it’s dangerously close to overflowing. Also at 50 minutes, the centre was liquid and uncooked still. Maybe because it’s cooked in a loaf tin ON a baking tray? I’m not sure what purpose that serves?
Update: It DID spill on the edges of the pan but thankfully it came out ok. Mine took 70 minutes to bake.
good to know— i was actually looking at the recipe and was surprised that an 8.5×4.5” loaf would take 4 eggs and wondered if a 9×5”would be better.
separately, i noticed for the pot de creme that there is a mint bonne idee version…will think about that instead.
Yes – I noticed that re: the bonne idée too (and will most likely do that one!). I’d say if you haven’t made the loaf yet to make it in the larger loaf pan – you might get a nicer shape on top (mine was flat) with no spillage. Also the chocolate chunks all fell to the bottom – not sure how to prevent that. Furthermore, I’d say 65 minutes would probably do it for this one – mine was bordering on too dry (but still delicious and everyone at the dinner I served it at loved it!)
thanks for the tips! i think i’ll bake the loaf this afternoon.
omg, I am realising as I write up my post that I forgot the simple syrup. GAH!
I got the reference of this blog from tea and cones, a nice blog once again. thanks for sharing
