Some awesome news from Dorie

Hi baking friends!  Dorie has decided that one of the paths to a peaceful world is by baking, and then sharing that baking.  We can’t agree more.  So we’re joining her in her baking revolution.  She’s calling it “Cookies and Kindness.”  Perfect.

Each month, we’ll post a recipe from her new book.  (We’ll be getting a sneak peek at her new book (YAY!) starting this month)  Though, of course, you can bake any recipe you’d like.  The recipe is for Two Bite One Chip Cookies.  Along with the recipe, you’ll find instructions for tagging and spreading the word.

Bake, share, repeat.  Who knows how many people we can get to smile!

Dorie’s Birthday

October 24th is Dorie’s birthday! If you would like to make a recipe from any of her books in honor of her birthday, I will put up a LYL post up on October 23rd for those would like to participate.

Get out your cookbooks and find something super fun.  I already know what I am going to bake up. :)

2nd Annual Epilepsy Foundation Fundraiser

It’s that time again! I am asking that the bakers and cooks from Tuesdays with Dorie and French Fridays with Dorie ban together for a good cause.

As most of you know, my youngest son Colby, has epilepsy. He has been seizure free with the help of medication for almost a year now. Which is amazing! The Epilepsy Foundation is a resource I turned to when Colby was first diagnosed and they have been a valued source of information since. For that reason, I would like to give back to them.

We will be participating in the Family Fun Run/Walk on June 25th. We will run the fundraiser on both blogs from now through the end of May. Last year, with your help, we were able to raise over $1,500. Let’s try to beat that this year!

Click here to donate to our Fun Run/Walk Team.

As a thank you to all who donate, I will be holding a raffle in June. Anyone who donates to this fundraiser will have a chance to win a prize. It will include various cookbooks and a few other goodies. I am still putting the prizes together, so more info on that later this month.

Thank you! Bake on!

TWD Great American Bake Sale

Many of you Americans and fellow food lovers may have seen the Share Our Strength commercials featured on The Food Network. I have seen these commericals many times thinking, I should host a bake sale. Well, Babette, of Babette Feasts, emailed me asking if TWD would like to host a Great American Bake Sale. I quickly read all the information on it, and thought, SURE, we would love to!

Here is the skinny on Share Our Strength and The Great American Bake Sale:

Share Our Strength® is a national organization working to make sure no kid in America grows up hungry. We weave together a net of community groups, activists and food programs to catch children at risk of hunger, and surround them with nutritious food where they live, learn and play. We work with the culinary industry to create engaging, pioneering programs like Share Our Strength’s Taste of the Nation®, Share Our Strength’s Great American Bake Sale®, Share Our Strength’s A Tasteful Pursuit®, Share Our Strength’s Great American Dine Out, and Share Our Strength’s Operation Frontline®.

Share Our Strength’s Great American Bake Sale is a national campaign that mobilizes Americans to end childhood hunger by holding bake sales in their communities. Since 2003, more than 1 million people have participated in Share Our Strength’s Great American Bake Sale, raising nearly $4 million to make sure no child in America grows up hungry.
