Ok, folks, a while back we had a discussion about having vs. not having hosts. I explained that I was a little worried because there seemed to be fewer people who were stepping up who hadn’t hosted in the past. I’ve only had one person volunteer for the month of March. So I’ll put this out there again — do we need the hosts this go round? Most, if not all, of these recipes are available on the web already. It’s very easy to link to the PBS site. Which way does public opinion sway?
It was so exciting seeing all the bakers and enthusiasm for our first recipe. We expect nothing less for the second. ;-) Having said that, it was a bit difficult to get through all the responses to the LYL post. We have a solution!
We’re going to have two posts on Tuesdays from now on. One will be a straight up Leave Your Link post. It is ONLY for links. Any other posts will be deleted.
We will also have a Tuesday Chatter post. This is the place to leave your notes, comments, and responses. Chat away, bakers!
Hopefully, this will alleviate some of the congestion and make it a bit easier to get to the links and leave comments on individual blogs.

I just wanted to take a second and follow-up on the post from last week. I did read all of your comments. This is what I heard, you want the same format, and a less stressful recipe schedule due to the complication of recipes.
I am going to admit, I was hoping to switch TWD over to the FFWD format, because it is so much easier to manage/maintain. However, I have heard you and we will continue TWD in the way it has always been run. With that said, I am going to ask for help. I would like to bring some more people on staff for the new club. My hope is that some of you old schoolers won’t mind pitching in. If we are going to manage a member list to pick hosts from, it’s a full time job, especially in the first couple months.
I’d also like to obtain a new logo when we start anew. If anyone would like to try their hand at making one, go for it!
If you would like to help out with TWD 2.0, let me know. Jules and I would appreciate any and all help we can get.

As we wind down on Baking, I am starting to look forward to the new book. We will be tackling Baking with Julia next. I hope you are all as excited as I am to begin a new book!
In starting a new book, I wanted to get feedback from you all about what you’d like the new club to look like. Would you like a new format? Would you like it to be similar to how FFWD is running? Would any of you like to be more involved?

I have a zillion ideas for TWD 2.0. I’d like to get a jump on getting a blog started for the new group, even if it wont launch till later this year. I want all the ducks in a row so to speak.
First, I’d like to hear from you. The members are what make the group so special. This is your chance to tell me what you like about TWD, what you may not like, etc…
My thought is that I’d like TWD 2.0 for Around My French Table to be a little more laid back. It has more recipes than BFMHTY… Think about that… I KNOW! That’s a lot of recipes! Do you think the new group should be a weekly group? If you are a member of TWD and join the new group, will you be able to handle 2 recipes a week? (Edited to add: Meaning one recipe from BFMHTY and one from AMFT. Not 2 recipes from AMFT per week.) Do you think the rules should be a little more lax?
What should we call this spin-off?? Suggestions welcome.

Okay, with that done, let’s continue. I started thinking today about a TWD spin-off for the new book. TWD: The New Book… TWD: AMFT… TWD: The Legend Continues, etc…
I have briefly discussed a spin-off with Dorie and she has so graciously given us her blessing. Woohoo! I love her so.
The sequel is just in the beginning stages. A lot of decisions will need to be made. I have learned a thing or 2 about running a group in the past 2 years. The most important thing I have learned is, it is hard to go it alone. (To all my former helpers of TWD, I thank you, and to the last lady standing, CB, I heart you.) Therefore, I am asking for help. Anyone interested in being staff for the new group, comment on this post.

This is the scenario I have been in the past 3 months….
Its time to email members for the upcoming month of recipes. I go to the Recipe Rotation.. I check out the names… I click on their blogs… and I only see 1, 2 or 3 TWD entries from now back through November or October… What do I do?!?!?
We used to have very strict participation rules. You had to participate twice a month to continue being a member. No ifs ands or buts… (Well, I would take hiatuses for those getting married, having babies, going on vacay, etc..) The rules have fallen by the wayside, mostly because I do not want to be a hypocrite. My life has been insane the past year. In trying to get Colby’s epilepsy under control, I sometimes barely remember TWD. Sad, but true. (Not entirely true, I bake 3/4 of the months recipes, but then dont post about it. Which is the worst, because I am actually baking along, but then dont put up proof!) I am doing my best to remember the P&Q etc.. to keep things going for you guys. Its becoming a staple that the upcoming hosts of the week are barely playing along.. Last month, I had to remove 10 members before I found someone who was playing along at all. So, tell me this…. should the members who have only participated once or twice in 3-4 months have the opportunity to host for a week?!? I want to know what you think here.

There were several good ideas on how to add content to our blog. Unfortunately, I am unable to execute all of them. So, I am asking if there are any TWD Bakers out there who would like their own weekly article/post on the blog. I’d like to have something new posted on the blog daily. All you need is a cute idea and the willingness to follow through. I think we could make this space a lot more interactive together.
