November recipes, who wants to host ’em?

Drumroll please….  by random drawing (literally names of recipes thrown into a baseball cap):

November 6. 2012 – Buttermilk Crumb Muffins on page 207

November 20, 2012 – Best Ever Brownies on page 331

And I’m just saying that my birthday is on Tuesday the 13th, so if anyone feels the need to do any extra baking and then ship it my way, that would be fine.  ;-)

Leave a comment if you’d like to be a November host!

July Recipes! Anyone out there anxious to host?

I am super stoked about this month. I have vowed to make one pie per week for the entire summer. This is to remedy the fact that I am an absolutely horrible pie maker. When I say horrible, I mean it. (This is Laurie, not Jules, I am sure Jules is a fab pie maker. I just know she is.) I was so excited that several pies/tarts were suggested for this month. However, we did not want to overload the month on sweets, so there is savory as well. Happiness for all!

July 3, 2012- Hazelnut Biscotti, p. 315.

July 17, 2012- Semolina Bread, p. 102.

July 31, 2012- Blueberry Nectarine Pie, p. 384.

If you would like to host one of these recipes (two needed each recipe), please throw your name in the hat by leaving a comment below.  This is a NO CHAT post.  I’ll close this post on the 22nd and announce the hosts on the 23rd.

Interested in Hosting in March?

The Recipe Schedule for March is as follows:

March 6, 2012- Rugelach, pages 325-327.

March 20, 2012- Irish Soda Bread, page 214.

The job of the Host is to post the actual recipe on your blog. All members then link to your blog for the week.

We need 2 hosts for each week. If you are interested in hosting, please comment below with your choice, Irish Soda Bread or Rugelach.

Hosts will be selected randomly. (Most likely names in a hat because our comments are not numbered.) Remember once you host, you move to the end of the line to allow others the same chance.

One last day to throw your hat in the ring. Comments will close on this post tomorrow, 2/16/12.

This is a NO CHAT post. All chatter will be removed.

Baking with Julia: February Recipe Schedule

The first month of Baking with Julia is here! We have been looking forward to the start of the new book since fall, and here we go. I hope you like the recipes we have picked for the first month.

February 7, 2012- White Loaves, on pages 81-82. (Hosted by Laurie and Jules)

February 21, 2012- Chocolate Truffle Tartlets, on pages 382-383. (Hosted by Steph, Spike, Jaime and Jessica)

From here on out, recipes will be picked by nominations and lottery for hosts. Everyone will have a chance to host that way. We will try to choose one simple and more difficult recipe per month. Look out for a recipe nomination post at the beginning on February.

September recipes and a note for our bakers

I was just looking at the list of remaining recipes and realized that we are thisclose to ending the book.  I know, because I am struggling to bake every week, that it’s tough to keep up sometimes.  Please don’t feel that if you miss a week or two that you will be dropped.  We really just want as many people as possible baking along with us as possible.

Having said that, these recipes are enough to tempt anyone to join back in!

September 6 – Jessica of My Baking Heart chose Chocolate Spice Quickies  on page 140

September 13 – Anne of Anne Strawberry chose Classic Brownies  on page 88

September 20 – Tia of Buttercream Barbie chose Salt and Pepper Shortbread on page 128

September 27  -Becky of Project Domestication chose Flip-Over Plum Cake  on page 42

Also, if you haven’t had a second chance to host and you are still an active/current member, please leave me a note in the comments section so I can get you into our host lottery.  Thanks!
