DC: December Recipes and P&Q

We do have a fifth Tuesday in November, but I know ovens are busy this time of year. For planning purposes, here’s what we’ll make in December:

Mulled Wine Jammers, p 362
Hot-and-Spicy Togarashi Meringues
, p 400

We bake from Dorie’s Cookies on the first and third Tuesdays of the month.

This post will also double as our P&Q, so if you have any questions or advice, leave it all right here!

BWD: December Nominations

We’re off to a great start with BWD, and it’s already time to start thinking about December’s recipes!

I know we have some international members who have not yet had the book delivered, and maybe some folks who have it on their holiday wish lists as well. I think that for December, similar to this month, we should stick to recipes that are available via other sources. Then in January, we’ll have at it with the full book! A variety of options are below (some were originally published with slightly different titles, but the recipes are the same)…please comment which two you’d like to bake in December:

-Iced Honey-Apple Scones with Spelt, p 57 (WGNTV)
-Breakfast-in-Rome Lemon Cake, p 76 (Dorie)
-Classic Chocolate Chip Cookies, p 151 (Food52)
-One Big Break-Apart Chipper, p 152 (Food52)
-World Peace Cookies 2.0, p 160 (King Arthur)
-Mokonut’s Rye-Cranberry Chocolate Chunk Cookies, p 163 (NYT)
-Cocoa-Cornmeal Biscotti, p 203 (NYT)
-Szarlotka, p 254 (The Providence Journal)
-Steph’s Bakewell Tart, p 298 (NYT)
-Cheese Puffers, p 342 (The Providence Journal)

The NYT recipes are behind a paywall; although you can often find them elsewhere if you look them up, I’m also happy to send them to anyone who needs them if they are chosen.

We’ll post from Baking with Dorie on the second and fourth Tuesdays of the month (12/14 and 12/28). You decide the order in which you bake them.

BWD: November Nominations

Thank you so much for sharing your loaf cakes yesterday– it’s a lot of fun to see so many friends come back together to celebrate this new book!

It’s time to start thinking about next month’s baking, but I know not everyone has a copy of Baking with Dorie yet. There are several recipes that are already available via other sources (some were originally published with slightly different titles, but the recipes are the same), and I think this coming month we should stick to things we can all access. I’ll list several options below…please comment which two you’d like to bake in November:

-English Muffins, p 24 (Food52)
-Breakfast-in-Rome Lemon Cake, p 76 (Dorie)
-Lisbon Chocolate Cake, p 133 (NYT)
-One Big Break-Apart Chipper, p 152 (Food52)
-World Peace Cookies 2.0, p 160 (King Arthur)
-Mokonut’s Rye-Cranberry Chocolate Chunk Cookies, p 163 (NYT)
-Cocoa-Cornmeal Biscotti, p 203 (NYT)
-Szarlotka, p 254 (The Providence Journal)
-Apple Pandowdy, p 257 (Garden & Gun)

The NYT recipes are behind a paywall; although you can find them elsewhere if you look them up, I’m also happy to send them to anyone who needs them if they are chosen.

We’ll post from Baking with Dorie on the second and fourth Tuesdays of the month (11/9 and 11/23). You decide the order in which you bake them.

DC: November Nominations

Wild that we’re thinking about November already– what should we make next month?  Nominate two recipes here.

Here’s the list of what’s left for DC.

Just a reminder that for October only, our second DC post is bumped to next Tuesday, October 26, so those who are joining us for Baking with Dorie can post on that book’s release date (which is this Tuesday). Thanks!
