Have not been able to find fresh yeast.. the store where I purchased it for the croissants, said they only sell it during the holidays. Bummer! Anyone use regular yeast?
I made this a couple of weeks ago and it turned of much more like regular white bread than baguette. I actually just got back from a trip to France (where I had great baguette everyday) and am inspired to try again before I post…

Me. me. me. See below.
:)
I made oven roasted peach cakes instead: http://www.thatskinnychickcanbake.com/2014/09/oven-roasted-peach-cakes-tuesdayswithdorie.html
Cathleen, I was going to sub regular yeast, but did a make up recipe :)
Cathleen, I used instant yeast. It’s just fine. Great recipe. http://www.karenskitchenstories.com/2014/09/classic-french-bread-tuesdays-with-dorie.html
Thanks, Karen!
I also used dry yeast (active dry, aka “regular”, which I dissolved before adding) – worked out fine!

My search for fresh yeast failed so I used dry too. It didn’t seem to be a problem.

Used old frozen, fresh yeast!
I used active dry yeast too! It was all good…
