BWD LYL: English Muffins or Apple Pandowdy

Which did you go for this time? If you’re holding off baking until later in the week, no worries, but here’s the place to leave a link to your blog post!

If you post to Instagram, please don’t forget to tag @doriegreenspan, #bakingwithdorie and #tuesdayswithdorie so she (and we) can all see.

FYI: November is a month with a fifth Tuesday, so next week will be an optional “Rewind Week.” This means you can make up a missed recipe (I know there haven’t yet been many), share something you’ve baked from any of Dorie’s other books, or just sit the week out. Happy US Thanksgiving!

BWD: December Recipes and P&Q

With lots of holidays coming up fast, it probably makes sense to settle on December’s schedule now. Let’s go with the below two recipes!  I’ve tacked on links to find the them on-line if you don’t yet have a book, but feel free to e-mail me at awhiskandaspoon@gmail.com if you can’t access them.

Mokonut’s Rye-Cranberry Chocolate Chunk Cookies, p 163 (NYT)
Cheese Puffers, p 342 (The Providence Journal)

We’ll post from Baking with Dorie on the second and fourth Tuesdays of the month (12/14 and 12/28), and if you are a blogger, there will be a post here to leave your links on those days. If you are an IGer, please tag #tuesdayswithdorie, #bakingwithdorie and @doriegreenspan. You decide the order in which you bake the recipes. This post will also double as our P&Q (Problems & Questions), so if you have any questions or advice, leave it all right here!

DC: December Recipes and P&Q

We do have a fifth Tuesday in November, but I know ovens are busy this time of year. For planning purposes, here’s what we’ll make in December:

Mulled Wine Jammers, p 362
Hot-and-Spicy Togarashi Meringues
, p 400

We bake from Dorie’s Cookies on the first and third Tuesdays of the month.

This post will also double as our P&Q, so if you have any questions or advice, leave it all right here!

BWD: December Nominations

We’re off to a great start with BWD, and it’s already time to start thinking about December’s recipes!

I know we have some international members who have not yet had the book delivered, and maybe some folks who have it on their holiday wish lists as well. I think that for December, similar to this month, we should stick to recipes that are available via other sources. Then in January, we’ll have at it with the full book! A variety of options are below (some were originally published with slightly different titles, but the recipes are the same)…please comment which two you’d like to bake in December:

-Iced Honey-Apple Scones with Spelt, p 57 (WGNTV)
-Breakfast-in-Rome Lemon Cake, p 76 (Dorie)
-Classic Chocolate Chip Cookies, p 151 (Food52)
-One Big Break-Apart Chipper, p 152 (Food52)
-World Peace Cookies 2.0, p 160 (King Arthur)
-Mokonut’s Rye-Cranberry Chocolate Chunk Cookies, p 163 (NYT)
-Cocoa-Cornmeal Biscotti, p 203 (NYT)
-Szarlotka, p 254 (The Providence Journal)
-Steph’s Bakewell Tart, p 298 (NYT)
-Cheese Puffers, p 342 (The Providence Journal)

The NYT recipes are behind a paywall; although you can often find them elsewhere if you look them up, I’m also happy to send them to anyone who needs them if they are chosen.

We’ll post from Baking with Dorie on the second and fourth Tuesdays of the month (12/14 and 12/28). You decide the order in which you bake them.
